About me
I was born 1971 a small village in the Austrian Alpes. My first instrument: The recorder. I had piano lessons for 3 years as a child.
Then my love for the guitar was woken by guitar-icons such as Jimi Hendrix
or Santana. I had to get an electric guitar. It was a Korean 'Westone. I still use it although I favor my Fenders nowadays. (And I also really like these.)
My music can be described as an ecclectic mix of guitar-oriented music with electronical and other influences. It is very cinematic music, borrowing from different genres of music while trying to retaining style and taste.
After graduating from Bruckner Music University in Linz/Austria in the 90s, I moved to Vienna to worked as a freelance
musician in various groups and projects (Forms of Plasticity, Ordinary world, Lovely
Rita, Waxolutionists...) and also for theaters and dancers. From 2007-08 I spent the a year living in Los Angeles, California.
Since the end of 2008 I am back in Vienna and teaching at the VMI (Vienna Music Institute) among many other things.

"Johannes Specht is a very engaged guitar player and free thinker who plays and thinks outside the boxes of genres. He'll be the master of ceremonies for this session, which will for once move beyond jazz standards into electronica and many other forms of (musical) plasticity."
